Improvisation as an Attitude
Hassfurther/Schouten is an Austrian-Dutch duo dedicated to experimental music and contemporary jazz. With their open, improvisational approach, they create sound worlds that transcend fixed genre boundaries. At the core is the equal interplay of two individual voices, sometimes in pure duo format, sometimes expanded by carefully selected guests who enrich the sonic spectrum and introduce new impulses. Authenticity, artistic freedom, and a keen sensitivity to the moment characterize each of their performances.
The duo’s music explores themes of hope, solidarity, belonging, and agency – core values in an increasingly complex world. Through improvised compositions, they create an open space where musical ideas can unfold freely. Guest musicians, bring fresh perspectives and continuously revitalize the sonic narrative.
